The 2001 Trooping the Colour ceremony was held on 16 June 2001 to celebrate the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. It was the 50th anniversary of Elizabeth's first Trooping acting in behalf of her father King George VI and was showered by heavy rain.[1] Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians came together in the traditional parade to mark the Queen's Official Birthday, which usually takes place on the third Saturday of June.[2] It was the final Birthday Parade attended by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother before her death on 30 March 2002.
